Elliott Visits the Library #1

Elliott loves going to the library! He still doesn’t understand the concept of being quiet yet, so it’s hard to contain his excitement when we get inside and walk to the children’s area. There is a big bookshelf which is actually a train, which he loves. There are always great creative displays, puzzles and toys. Elliott likes to select his own books with a little help from me so I thought that I would start sharing some of the lovely books we borrow in an ‘Elliott Visits the Library’ series.

These books have amazing illustrations which Elliott thoroughly enjoyed, they are also a relatively quick read which is great for Elliott’s short attention span.  He is still at the stage where he likes to lick books and rip pages, so the first three are for Mummy and Daddy reading time.

Elliott’s favourite series by far is the ‘That’s not my ______’ series. They are fabulous board books, perfect for the book ripping Elliott, so he can look through them unsupervised. He loves the bright coloured illustrations and the different textures on each page – bumpy, rubbery, scratchy, hairy, smooth.

I haven’t seen this series. But then sadly the library is not somewhere we get to often. Poor child number 3 she misses out on all kinds of things.

My daughter loved this series! We own ‘that’s not my dog’. I also saw one about ‘that’s not my daddy because he changes my nappy’

Those books are favourites in my house too! We love finding the mouse on each page!

My almost 3yo also can get a little overexcited and noisy when we’re at the library. Our library has a toy section so he’s usually far more interested in selecting a toy to borrow. But I would choose the books to borrow to read to him for the week 🙂

Libraries are not meant to be quiet in my opinion so go Elliott.

How awesome, my girl loves going to the library too and we do that every week! She has so many favourite books that I don’t know which to choose, but her most loved ones are Dora and any book to do with animals. =) every night, we have to, have to, read at least three books to her before she goes to bed!
