An absolutely gorgeous picture book, I’m Australian Too celebrates Australia’s cultural diversity and is a great way to teach children about topics like migration, ancestral history and refugees.
When I read this with Master E it was a great opportunity to explain my grandparent’s journey on a ship over from the Netherlands and how they started their life here in Australia not knowing anyone and having very little money. The key message is strong in this book, no matter where our ancestors have come from, we are all equally Australian.
I hope you enjoy listening to me read the story as well as the stunning illustrations by Ronojoy Ghosh who was born in India but now lives in Sydney with his wife and young son.
