Goodbye from The Multitasking Mummy…

…Hello, The Multitasking Woman!

Gotcha, didn’t I?

No, I’m not going anywhere, this blog is part of who I am, but I am making some big changes.

goodbye
For some time, I’d been dabbling in the idea of expanding my blog or perhaps starting another but I wasn’t entirely sure.  It wasn’t until I met a lovely woman at ProBlogger 2015 that I made my decision in an instant. ‘What’s the name of your blog?’ She asked. I responded and gave her my business card. She politely responded and said ‘I’m really sorry, I don’t usually say things like this, but it seems there are so many ‘Mummy blogs’ out there, what about blogs for women like me that don’t have kids?’ I could tell that the woman felt a little guilty about speaking her thoughts to me, but I couldn’t have thanked her enough. It was what I needed to hear and it completely made sense to me.

So that’s why, in the next week (I hope, if it all runs smoothly) this here blog will change from The Multitasking Mummy to The Multitasking Woman with a focus on stress-free living for the multitasking woman.

The reality is that we all wear many hats in our lives, and my focus for the blog is to consider those hats and share content that may spark some inspiration to help you stress less and enjoy life more, appreciating the little things. I hope to include categories such as work, living (home, ideas, DIY, recipes), family (I’ll still share some parenting posts) and most importantly, a category focused on YOU and being the best YOU!

The rebrand is not only about accommodating a wider audience, it’s a reflection of where I am in my life, the things I love and how I like to live my life. It’s something I really want to share.

As part of the change I will be introducing a brand new monthly challenge called ‘Thrifty Under $30’ where I will invite a number of bloggers to share their thrift project based on a monthly challenge I set.

I also hope to introduce a ‘How To’ series where different bloggers share their expertise on ‘how to’ do something in particular.

Lastly, (yes, I know there’s heaps happening) I hope to introduce an interview series whereby I interview some inspirational bloggers and share what it is that makes them tick.

If you’re a blogger and keen in participating in the ‘How To’ series or the interview series, please let me know, I’d love to have you!

So, keep your eyes peeled, the new blog will launch shortly along with all the new logos!!!!

I totally thought you were going to shut down your blog!! I’d be happy to do the interview series, not sure about the how to lolcos I’m not good at making stuff really. Are you still going to be keeping the mummy mondays link up?

I think a lot of people thought that! It got everyone’s attention though! Would love you to be part of the IV series. I’ll contact you soon. AS with the Mummy Mondays, yes, it will still stay the same although down the track I’ll probably change the name to Multitasking Mondays or something similar.

That was a serendipitious meeting! Good luck with the rebrand and new direction, it’s true that we all wear many hats.

Sounds like great times ahead Eva!

I’d be keen to take part in your Thrifty Challenge and your How To Challenge….they sound great!

Best of luck with your changes xx

So glad you’d like to take part! I will send you some details on the How To challenge soon. As with the Thrifty challenge, I think I might have to start that when I get back from holidays next month. Keep an eye out for what the challenge is going to be!

Good on you, Eva. It’s good to mix things up! And I do think that the older our kids get, the more we want to just be ‘women’ again anyway. That’s how I feel for sure.

Look me up for anything bloggy contribution you need. x

Thanks Bron. That’s exactly how I feel, there’s so much more to us and so much more I want to share! Thanks for the offer 🙂

What a fantastic way to broaden your scope – and what an amazing chance meeting that happened to be. I bet that person could have no idea how much influence her feedback was going to have, and kudos to her for being brave enough to make that comment. Just goes to show how important it can be for us to be honest (with kindness) instead of just polite.

Whew, so glad you’re not going anywhere! I thought with your new job you might have been finishing up your blogging and that would have been sad … welcome to the multitasking woman, I like it!

Oh Gosh!!! You did get me. I was like – oh no! Not more bad news 😉 Seriously that sounds like a wonderful change and sounds as though it will open up many doors for you. I feel a change coming with my blog also. With my eldest starting prep next year, I’m less inclined to write about her and share her personal information. Meanwhile, that is a gorgeous profile pic of you. Take care, lovely #teamIBOT

Oh, I’m sorry. No bad news here. I think we’re both coming from the same place, we’re so much more than Mums and I really want to be able to write about the stuff that makes me who I am and the things I enjoy!

Yikes! I go away for a couple of weeks and I fell for it! Very exciting to hear of your new plans and interested in your “how to” series – writing and reading!

Yep, you got me! But wowee, this sounds great! Love your idea of expanding your space and all the new inclusions. I look forward to seeing it all unfold x

Congrats Eva! I love this idea, and your new space is so fresh and inviting. Yay for fun changes!

  13. October 15, 2015 / 9:47 pm

Good luck with the changes! I tend to write about my family as the backdrop rather than the main feature for the same reason. I want anyone to feel welcome on my blog and because although it’s a big part of my life, it’s not the only thing. (And, as the Tubblet is older, she insists on reading the blog and is most displeased when she’s on it OTH, she’s also displeased when she isn’t!)

Interestingly enough, I read the other day that it was better to avoid mummy or baby in the title of your blog for the reasons you’ve given.

Happy to help with the interviews if needed 🙂

I love your honesty Eva and the new direction fir you and your blog. How exciting and a big congrats in being brave and taking the plunge!
I love reading a wide range of blogs and networking with other bloggers, however I do feel that not having children myself almost excludes me from engaging with some blogs. I hope this makes sense? It is so lovely to see Mummy bloggers and their niche, but it is quite a targeted audience and I think your move is in the right direction. You are so right, women wear alot of hats and we are the masters at multitasking, so very fitting! Well done Eva, look forward to seeing your new content! 🙂
