I know that when I try living a healthy lifestyle and focusing what I eat, my nemesis is ALWAYS my sweet tooth; I always crave sugary snacks full of refined sugar, far from the low carb snacks I know I should be having. And then there are those times, thanks to hormones, I do a total 180 and crave savoury like salted cashew nuts, chips and cheese. Ahhh the female body, hey?
There are a couple of solutions to this matter. One, don’t have sweet treats or naughty savoury food in the house and suffer withdrawals or two, have healthy sweet and savoury treats that are low carb and pretty much guilt free. I prefer the latter, don’t you?
Here’s some inspiration for you.
Peanut Butter Chocolate Fat Bombs
So this baby is what I’m talking about, this is the kind of low carb treat my sweet tooth needs when my cravings go ballistic. Although the name of this low carb snack doesn’t sound very low carb, I’ve checked out the ingredients list, and it is, just make sure you use the low sugar natural peanut butter! This yummy treat is also dairy free. How good are healthy sweets like these? They’re addictive! You can find the recipe at Low Carb Yum.
Baked Cheddar Parmesan Crisps
There’s just something so satisfying about having something salty and crunchy to munch on. But when you’re sitting down to watch a movie or working at home on your computer, these are so much healthier! You can find the recipe at Wholesome Yum.
Vegan Cashew Jalapeno Ranch Dip
You know all those times you like to tuck into a creamy dip with crackers? Why not swap out the crackers and the store bought dip for this delicious Vegan Cashew Jalapeno Ranch Dip. It’s a bit of a tongue twister but, it’s Vegan, and it’s super duper healthy! Dip into this one as much as you want! You can find this recipe at The Baking Fairy.
Coconut Flour Choc Chip Cookie Dough
Now, this is for you ladies who love to eat cookie dough! Stop eating out of those big tubs you can buy right now and try these happy little low carb versions! This recipe uses coconut flour, sugar-free choc chips, low carb sweetener and vanilla extract to get a healthier sweetness. You can find this recipe at Low Carb Yum.
Low Carb Crackers with Almond Flour
Here’s another recipe for the savoury tooth, for the cheese lover, for the woman who loves the texture of a crunch cracker; these Low Carb Crackers With Almond Flour are the perfect accompaniment to the Vegan Cashew Jalapeno Ranch Dip….a double no guilt treat! Low-Calorie Strawberry Cupcakes
You simply cannot deny yourself a good old Strawberry Cupcake when you’re trying to be healthy and certainly not these! With ingredients like applesauce, maple syrup, vanilla bean paste and fresh strawberries, pretty much every sign of refined sugar have been removed and replaced with guilt-free yumminess. These are great because you can keep them in the fridge (undecorated). When you get the craving for sweetness, just whip one out of the fridge, zap it in the microwave, put a blob of the topping on top and enjoy! You can find this recipe at Craftify My Love.
Healthy choc protein bar
I made this for my husband once, a slightly fussy eater and he loved it. He loved it so much that he took it to work and had one of his coworkers try it. His co-worker loved it so much that he requested the recipe. There’s no refined sugar; the sweetness is from the dates, but, you’d never even know! Find the recipe in my Bellini Intelli Kitchen Master Recipe Book.
Carrot Cake Balls
Love carrot cake, well what about Carrot Cake Balls? I even put these past my picky eater of a six-year-old, and he gave them the thumbs up. Just like the choc protein bar, the bad boys in this recipe are the dates; they’re the little sweetness puppies that make these healthy snacks so yummy. Find the recipe here.
Chocolate Bliss Balls
Everybody loves rum balls (well, most), the chocolately goodness and, the rum. Well, these don’t have rum, but they still have the chocolatey goodness minus the refined sugar thanks to cocoa, dates, coconut, coconut oil and LSA mix. Find the recipe in my Bellini Intelli Kitchen Master recipe book..
Wrap them up in some beeswax food wrap and you’re all set for work or a picnic! So now the question is, which one of these low carb snacks are you going to make first?
