8 Baby Products I’m Loving Right Now

8 Baby Products I'm Loving Right Now
When Elliott was a baby there were definitely a heap of baby products that hardly got used, either because they were a bit of a fad or the quality just wasn’t there.

There were also baby products that were kindly given to us and although they had their cons, we made do because not having to pay for them saved us a heap of money.

One example was my Steelcraft Strider pram. It had been used 3 or 4 times beforehand but it served its purpose. I knew though, that when I had my second child, I wanted a brand new pram and knew exactly what I wanted.

Second time round, four and a half years later, I’ve had a pretty good idea of the products I want to use based on my experience with baby number one. I’ve had a mental checklist of product requirements with everything from the pram to body products and I thought I’d share them with you if you’re expecting a baby and need some recommendations.

iCandy Strawberry 2 Pram

When it came to purchasing a pram, it was more about practicality than price. I wanted a pram that was easy to collapse and put into the car, a pram that wasn’t huge and bulky, a pram that was easy to manoeuvre and not so big that it couldn’t fit down some isles, a pram that had a large basket underneath as well as plenty of clearance to fit enough in there.

I also wanted a pram with a travel system – a pram that could take a car capsule, bassinet and seat.  After testing out a number of prams, many that seemed absolutely huge in front of short arse me, I settled on the iCandy Strawberry 2.

Baby K’tan Baby Carrier

The Baby K’tan is more like a wrap but without having to actually wrap the baby. You simply put the two loops over your head, sort of like a necklace, put each arm through each loop, pull one loop down to your waist and then the baby goes in the top loop. The loop around the waist is then pulled up over the back of the baby for extra support and put up on the other shoulder. I have been using the ‘Kangaroo’ hold but there are loads of different ways to wear it depending on the size of the child.

I was lucky enough to have my sister loan me this Baby K’tan carrier and absolutely love it. When Elliott was a baby I had a no frills carrier worn on the front of me that Elliott simply hated and because he hated it I just didn’t move onto anything else. I was also too scared and nervous to use a baby sling or carrier, I think my postnatal depression had a lot to do with my constant feelings that something bad would happen to my child.

But fast forward to wearing Mila in the Baby K’tan and it’s pure freedom. I love being able to have my hands free to make dinner or help Elliott get ready for kindy, particularly when Mila is unsettled and wants to be close.

Plum Collection Bamboo Jersey Wraps

Oh I had some really crappy quality wraps with Elliott. Some that pilled and that felt really rough. That’s why I absolutely LOVE these bamboo jersey wraps from Plum Collections, they are so damn soft and luxurious. The designs are also just a bit fabulous too, we have the flower and pink polka dot designs.  www.plumcollections.com.au

BONDS ‘Zippy’ Wondersuits

You simply cannot go wrong with a BONDS Wondersuit, but I also love their Zippy’s! With Mila being a winter baby, she’s been living in the traditional Wondersuits and Zippys. The reason the Zippy’s are so great is that because they have two-way zips.  You can zip down from the top or up from the feet. This is perfect for cold winter night nappy changes, you can keep their top halves nice and warm! They’re also great because they have cuff fold-over mittens and feet so bub can have mittens and socks or wear them without. Oh, and the designs are gorgeous!

Medela Swing Breast Pump

Hallelujah for my Medela Swing breast pump! I remember wanting to throw my old breast pump at the wall when I had Elliott. What a crappy thing it was. I swore that I’d use a Medela for my second breastfeeding journey, particularly because my first breastfeeding journey didn’t go so well.  Expressing is an absolute breeze, particularly because I’ve had to express quite a bit for comp feeding to get Mila to put on her weight.  Mila has also taken to the Medela bottles wonderfully.

thankyou. newborn nappies

I’ve loved using the thankyou. soap and body wash and was super excited when I saw the thankyou. nappies at Coles. Not only are the nappies a really cute design, white with black polka dots, they are nice and soft, are generously sized and from our experience so far, they don’t leak and have great absorption. The best thing about them is that 100% of the profits help get child and maternal health programs to families in need. Now, I know where I’d prefer my nappy money to go!

Love to Dream 50/50 Winter Warm Swaddle

Oh, I wish the Love to Dream Winter Warm Swaddle was around when Elliott was a baby. He was a serial hand poker outerer and in doing so, would always wake himself up. I kept seeing these gorgeous swaddles on social media before I had Mila and just had to get one.

Mila always has a lovely sound sleep when wearing the Love to Dream 50/50 Winter Warm Swaddle and given the chilly weather, it’s great knowing she’s comfy and warm and not getting out of her wrap. I reckon babies look so cute wearing them too, their little arms look like wings.

GAIA Skin Naturals Baby Wash

When it comes to my kids, I always opt for natural body products to look after their skin and GAIA Skin Naturals is always my go-to brand.  This product is soap free, free of sulphates and smells lovely and the best thing is you don’t have to go and buy separate stuff for baby. Both toddlers, big kids and babies can all use this.

Maxi Cosi Moda Car Seat

Maxi Cosi Moda Car Seat Review

We didn’t have a Maxi Cosi Moda with our first child and because of this, we’ve been able to make comparisons. Let’s just say we absolutely love it, particularly the comfort and safety aspects. Read my entire review of the Maxi Cosi Moda.

What baby products are you loving?

Disclosure: I received the Plum Collections wraps for the purpose of a review and share my honest opinion on the product. None of the other products were gifted, I simply wanted to share the products I’m loving at the moment. You can find my full disclosure policy here.

I used most of these products too except I have a bugaboo pram {which is usually too wide for aisles, should’ve investigated that more before we bought it}.

Toni, I think your blog was the first one I saw the Love to Dream on and told myself ‘I must have it!’

Oh my ovaries! Bub is divine! <3 Loved my Strider Plus for bubs #1,2,3 and 4 (so handy with the capsules for car/pram transfer/short trips) and now can't live without my double stroller – Out N About (which I was gifted) but absolutely adore and recommend. xx

All fantastic items Eva! That baby carrier sounds super easy to put on (I was never coordinated enough to tie the baby slings!). And why did Bonds wait so long to release the Zippy suits – I wish they had those when my tornadoes were bubs! Same too for the Thank You nappies – such a wonderful idea xx
