Golden Turmeric Elixr and Matcha Elixir – My New Fave Coffee Alternatives

I am a coffee lover through and through, there’s no doubt about it. But, there are those times during the day when I feel like a hot drink that’s not coffee, particularly at night when I don’t want caffeine. That’s where the Golden Turmeric Elixir and Kyoto Matcha Elixir from Alchemy Cordial Company are perfect!

But let’s rewind back a little. Before I was asked to try the Golden Turmeric Elixir and Kyoto Matcha Elixir, I’d never really heard of them before let alone tried them. I knew Match was a superfood buzz word I’d heard floating around but I never knew you could make a Matcha Latte! And a Turmeric Latte, well, I have to be completely honest in saying that I was a little concerned about what it would taste like. All I could relate the taste to was the Turmeric I used in my curries and I didn’t think a latte that reminded me of a curry would be very appetising.

But, I had to give it a shot to see what all the ‘superfood latte’ fuss was about AND, I didn’t have to go to a cafe to try it, I did it at home using my trusty Aldi milk steamer.

Golden Turmeric Elixir

Golden Turmeric Elixir

As you can see in the video, the first thing you’ll notice is the vibrancy of the golden yellow, it makes you excited to drink it as you pour it into your cup. And the colour? It’s all natural and comes from the natural curcumin found in turmeric. As I tasted the turmeric latte for the first time, I was pleasantly surprised.

The taste is quite complex and I really enjoyed experiencing each individual flavour, they worked surprisingly well together. I was fully expecting quite a savoury taste but instead, I was first hit with the sweetness of vanilla and cinnamon and then in the background, I experienced what I can describe as a subtle pepperiness from the black pepper and ginger and all held together with an earthy turmeric flavour. There was not really one flavour that dominated, they were all so well balanced, making it a deliciously light and refreshing drink. You can drink this hot or cold.  I also love the fact that there’s no artificial colours or flavours.

What I’ve also learnt since trying the Golden Turmeric Elixir is the health benefits of turmeric. It’s a mood enhancer, an anti-inflammatory, it aids digestion, is an antioxidant, it’s great for cleansing your system and it can improve brain function. Looks like I’m going to be drinking this regularly!

The Golden Turmeric Elixir is gluten free, dairy free, vegan, GMO-free and made in Australia from premium local and imported ingredients.

Kyoto Matcha Elixir

Matcha Latte

I enjoy the odd cup of green tea but couldn’t get my head around a matcha latte, but I tried the Kyoto Matcha Elixir in a latte and now I’m converted.

I could taste the subtle notes of green tea but the flavour I knew had been given loads of body with other herbal notes that just seem to work with steamed milk.

I love my coffee to get me going but a Kyoto Matcha Elixir latte, it’s the perfect drink for when I’m happy to just chill out.

This Kyoto Matcha Elixir isn’t just called that because it sounds impressive, premium grade Japanese Matcha is in fact sourced directly from Kyoto and surrounding regions.

The Kyoto Matcha Elixir is gluten free, dairy free, vegan, GMO-free and made in Australia from premium local and imported ingredients.

You don’t need to visit a cafe to try Alchemy’s superfood latte elixirs and delicious coffee syrups, they sell them online.
