How To Find Sunglasses That Suit Your Face Shape

Whenever I’ve gone to buy new sunglasses, I’ve never really thought about the perfect pair according to my face shape. Instead, I’ll stand in front of the sunglasses stand for as long as it takes, trying on different sunglasses until I find the right ones. Sometimes this method doesn’t always work.

Then, I came across a method whereby you select sunglasses based on your face shape. Even better, I attached it to fruits and vegetables to it’s easier to remember!

So, just for you (and me) I thought I’d put together a bit of a fun guide to show you what I mean and so you can keep it in mind on your next shop for sunglasses. I know I’ll be remembering it when I’m shopping in the USA next week!

Oversized frames offset the roundness of a round face. People with a round face can also try wayfarer and cat-eye sunglasses.

Aviator sunglasses work well for people with a rectangular shaped face because the tear-drop shape helps accentuate cheek and jaw bones. Rectangular faces also suit oversized frames but just make sure they’re not too large or too small.

I have actually only just started to find a pair that work for me – the biggest issue I have is that my eyelashes always touch the lens and it drives me crazy. People used to tell me it’s normal and I told them I don’t like it and I don’t care if it’s normal! The pair I won recently are pretty comfy and I’m trying to use them to develop a good habit of actually wearing them.

Oooh, I think mine is a bit oval/rectangle like because I seem to get away with aviators!

I have a pineapple/rectangle shaped face but have never worn aviators. My reading glasses tend to be rectangular and I think that suits me well; my sunglasses are bigger and more like the ones for an oval face. So perhaps my “rectangle” isn’t as rectangular as I thought!

Cool List ! Its always nice to have someone with you when you are buying sunnies. I think I am a heart shape and its hard to get something that doesn’t swallow my whole face. Are you off to Us on Holidays ? How exciting !

I think I am an oval. I recently bought some oversized sunnies, but I think they’re a little too oversized. I have a fairly small face and I think I’m swimming in them. Great sun protection though. Meanwhile, can you take me to the US with you ???

I need new sunglasses but I always feel like I look ridiculous when I try them on so I’ve never worn them! Must try again this summer to find some good ones. Great tips!
