On Falling In Love With Melbourne and a Great Cause

In Love With Melbourne
I have decided that I’m in LOVE with Melbourne. I was lucky enough to attend a Bloggers BBQ in Melbourne last weekend and decided to make a weekend of it with Mr. G who had never ever visited the city.

Elliott is also jealous that I got to meet Captain Barnacles from the Octonauts….every morning since my return all I’ve heard is ‘can we go and visit the Octonauts, Mum?’

I was also lucky enough to meet Giaan Rooney at the function but have since been copping a bit of slack on how much of a short arse I am.

But this isn’t a post to go on about my love affair with Melbourne, meeting an underwater creature or Olympian, it’s a post about an amazing charity that I got to learn more about at the function, Camp Quality.

Camp Quality’s purpose is to create a better life for every child living with cancer in Australia.

The services Camp Quality provides for children (0-13 years) living with cancer and their families help create a better life by building optimism and resilience throughout each stage of their cancer journey.

Right from diagnosis, throughout treatment and in remission or bereavement, the Camp Quality programs support the whole family; at hospital, at home, back at school and in the community.

Camp Quality has been operating since 1983. Their programs create a supportive, resilient and optimistic community for families living with cancer. At Camp Quality fun flows through everything they do, their motto is ‘laughter is the best medicine’.

Camp Quality teams are located in every state and territory across Australia. With the support of 2,500 volunteers, their services reach 1 in 3 children living with cancer in Australia. Their goal is to ensure every child living with cancer and their family has equal access to our programs nationwide.

Wouldn’t that be wonderful, that every child living with cancer and their family had access to this amazing support? I was so happy to see that Kids Business was able to present Cindy Hsiao of Camp Quality with a huge cheque for $500 to put towards this wonderful goal.

If you don’t have a charity you support yet, think about how much a charity like this would help you and your family if cancer were to strike, perhaps it’s a charity you may consider supporting. You can visit their website for more details http://www.campquality.org.au/

Thanks to Cindy from Camp Quality for her groovy business card too, I love it!
