Giveaway! Body Products With Ingredients I Can Actually Pronounce!

Do you know what worries me? It’s when I pick up a well-known brand of body care product, particularly baby and children’s products, and I can’t pronounce most of the ingredients, let alone know what they are. There’s just something a little wrong with that, it doesn’t sit right with me.

But rewind back to when I had Elliott and it was all Johnson & Johnson this and that and I trusted the brand, parents had been using it for years.

Me, well, I won’t be touching it or similar products anymore if I can’t pronounce the ingredient names and there’s no way I will be putting it on my kids skin.

That’s why it makes me super happy to come across brands like Kelapa Organics. I was sent a lovely bottle of Hand & Body Lotion and Baby Lotion and guess what? I can pronounce the ingredients AND I pretty much knew what all of them are!

Just so you can see, here’s the ingredient list for the Kelapa Organics Organic Coconut Oil Baby Lotion:

Organic Aloe Vera Juice, Purified Water, Cetearyl Olivate & Sorbitan Olivate (a unique natural PEG-free emulsifier from Olive oil), Organic Coconut Oil, Organic Sweet Almond Oil, Organic Shea Butter, Organic Cocoa Butter, Glyceryl Caprylate (100% natural thickener made from 100% renewable sources, it’s from vegetable oil sources and medium chain fatty acids of coconut and / or palm kernel oil), Organic Glycerin (Glycerin is an organic compound. Its common sources are animal fat and vegetable oil), Xanthan Gum ( Fermented by plant-loving bacteria, it is no less natural than vinegar or yeast), Bitter Orange Extract, Organic Lavender Essential Oil, Natural Vitamin E.

All products are FREE FROM sulfates, parabens, artificial preservatives, synthetic fragrances and artificial colours. The baby lotion is also 87% certified organic and the baby shampoo & wash 81% certified organic.

Just because they don’t have any ingredients with fancy schmancy names, doesn’t mean they don’t work. The rich antioxidants found in the baby lotion help with nourishment and the coconut oil provides anti-bacterial, anti-fungal and anti-viral properties – perfect for nappy rash, cradle cap, baby acne, bruises, bug bites (yes, we used it on Elliott’s mozzie bites and it worked a treat), burns, chicken pox…you name it.

Both the baby lotion and adult hand & body lotion I received are simply divine, I just can’t get enough of this stuff and it smells good enough to eat.

So, guess what?

I’ve got a Kelapa Organics Mum & Baby Pack to give away!

Don’t worry if you don’t have a baby, the baby product can be used on young children OR just keep the adult products and use the baby products as a gift!

A little pampering would go a long way – for all of us. The less chemicals the better, for us and the planet.

Lovely products, they smell awesome too! However, can I just say that your ability to pronounce something has literally no relevance to its safety? It’s a line often used by “Food Babe” and it’s a widely criticised idea. There are lots of things I can’t pronounce (including from that ingredient list!) but what matters is that they have been tested for safety and use in humans. Luckily our standards are very high in Australia 🙂 There is a real climate of fear around chemicals at the moment when chemicals are what we are made of- everything is. We should minimise exposure to harmful ones, for sure- but we can’t and shouldn’t try to exist without them because it’s impossible.

I get what you’re saying but I didn’t say they weren’t safe, I just meant I can’t pronounce them and really don’t know what they are. It’s the same with food. I’m not going to eat something if I don’t know what it is. When it comes to natural, I know exactly what it is.

I hate not knowing what I’m putting onto my kids bodies. Sure as adults we seem to gain less of a care factor as to how things may affect us in the long run. For my kids though, I do care, it’s up to me to look after them and try my best not to expose them to harmful things!

Using organic is important to me because it’s free of GMO’s, are not irradiated, improve biodiversity, doesn’t use synthetic pesticides or contaminate waterways and overall is more ethical! I only use natural and organic products on my family. It just makes sense not to cover our bodies daily in chemicals because eventually there is going to be a reaction! I have never heard of this brand before but am eager to try their healthy range and compare to what we currently use.

With such a strong cancer rate in my family I am very aware of being careful what chemicals are in products and Ive learned that its important to avoid nasty chemical in products. This range takes that worry away as the products are wonderfully safe.

Why? In all honesty I would love these products because they are cruelty free, environmentally friendly and Australian made- all things that are important to me. Also, I have a toddler who gets nasty eczema when exposed to chemicals. Most recently his sister’s bubble bath (a Christmas present) triggered it and I managed to clear it up with coconut oil which is one of the ingredients Kelapa use. I suffer from dermatitis and especially while I am breastfeeding I try to keep my exposure to any toxic nasties to a minimum. No Johnson’s here either! We keep to basic, natural products and Kelapa fit the bill perfectly- they are organic, natural and nourishing. We would love to try them!
