If You’re Low Maintenance When It Comes To Fashion, You’ll Get This

If You're Low Maintenance When It Comes To Fashion, You'll Get This

Yes, I like to look good but my fashion sense is far from high maintenance. Like REALLY far.

I don’t do designer labels, I don’t follow fashion trends, I really don’t spend much on clothes….I’m very low maintenance in the fashion stakes.Oh, and the last time I got my haircut was 18 months ago AND I have grey hairs because I haven’t put in a colour in the same amount of time.

So, perhaps if you’re like me, you’ll nod your head in agreeance with some of my ‘low maintenance’ fashion traits.

  1. I have four hairstyles: all out, half up half down, ponytail and bun.
  2. I have three pairs of shoes that I wear with most of my wardrobe and I wear them until they break. That’s when I buy new ones.
  3. Most of my outfits are either dresses (easy to throw on and less to think about) or a combination of shorts/pants and a tank top.
  4. Getting read is easy. I throw on one of the outfits hanging on my ‘decorative’ ladder in the corner of my bedroom. There are usually a few outfits on rotation that hang on my ladder, they never make it to my wardrobe. These are worn with my above-mentioned shoes. And BAM. That’s how you dress in 10 minutes, ladies!
  5. When I do eventually get around to a haircut it ALWAYS has to be a cut that is easy to maintain. There’s no way you’ll catch me washing and blow-drying my hair every morning (Mum, I don’t know how you do it). If there’s layering, it must be at a length that can go into a ponytail with minimal use of bobby pins..because, you know, I buy a packet of bobby pins and always end up with two
  6. Makeup…well, lipstick is as far as I go and not every day. It depends on how I’m feeling.  Full makeup is for special occasions only and don’t ever ask me to do smokey eye. A meme I saw not long ago is close to how I feel about smokey eye, “watched a bunch of tutorials on how to create a smoky eye. Decided it would be easier to punch myself in the face.”
  7. Heels are only for very special occasions and when I do have to wear them, I can’t wait to take them off.
  8. When I get all dressed up, makeup on, heels on, I get a little excited because it just doesn’t happen often.
  9. The very end of my wardrobe is where my ‘nice clothes’ hang. I rarely go down there. You know, the clothes especially for weddings, the rare party, a funeral. Actually, I think most of them are really old and probably don’t fit anymore.
  10. My active wear is not actually for being active, it’s quite simply for being comfortable and doing the shopping, kindy drop off and working from home.
  11. I still wear clothes that are four or more seasons old. I definitely believe in getting the most out of my clothes.
  12. I can’t remember the last time I bought a new handbag, I also still use handbags that are four or more seasons old.
  13. I wear the same three pairs of fashion earrings on rotate. My most expensive accessories are my wedding and engagement ring.

N.B. I should point out that I work from home which does make it a little easier to get my ‘daggy’ on.

So ladies, tell me I’m not alone. Does this sound like you?

Yep – lots of this is me too. I’m a jeans and trainer girl. I’m also a big op shopper, so recently have started to make more of an effort to buy nice things to wear (ZOMG even dresses), and to boost my accessory collection with scarves, necklaces etc. It’s a good way to experiment with new looks in a cheap and low risk way.

Yep, this is me! Love it. I rotate the wardrobe more these days, and I’m not averse to wearing heels. But you’ll rarely see me in make-up (and even when you do, there’s no lippie) and I have exactly two hairstyles – up or down. I get my hair cut every six weeks but only because it is so THICK. My hairdresser thins it out so it takes 10 minutes to blow dry instead of 40. I can’t remember the last time I bought a handbag or changed my earrings, my fave shirt is one I bought in 1999, and I have no idea what’s ‘in fashion’ – I just know what makes me feel fab. x

Pretty much, except I don’t bother with earrings hardly at all anymore – it’s a wonder the holes haven’t closed up! Though I do like to get my hair cut every 6 weeks and my foils kept up – it just makes me feel good. I like to participate in Everyday Style on IG but don’t do it everyday, because everybody would be bored seeing me where the same thing 100 times over LOL …

You sound like my kind of girl.
I just can’t be bothered working out what’s in, or even thinking too much about what I’m wearing. The other day Boatman said I was easy to find in a crowd because my shirts are always the same. And then I saw I was wearing more or less the same outfit as Frankie Heck from the middle, so clearly, I’m not that cool. 🙂

Almost spat my coffee onto my laptop screen when I read about you ‘decorative’ ladder. I have a decorative chair … no one sits on it just my outfits I have on rotation.

Hey Eva, Glad to know about your low maintenance ideas on fashion. Yeah, you are absolutely right ownself, I must appreciate your views on this. Many times we need to manage and compromise own-self with our limited stuff of fashionable things.

In this situation, I just use my fashionable stuff by turn. The problem may arises due to extraordinary shopping from our budget. But having the proper knowledge of collecting fashionable accessories helps to get rid from unnecessary spend of money.

Thanks of you for sharing your beautiful low maintenance fashion idea.
    Have a nice day ahead.
