6 Wellness Trends to Include in Your Daily Life

It’s safe to say that 2020 changed the way most people approach wellness. Investing in our well-being is no longer just about feeling (and looking) great. Keeping ourselves in prime health has become the single best way to stay safe over the past 12+ months.

And, with our changing outlook on what wellness actually means, it’s no surprise that the past year brought with it a few interesting trends.

So, if you’re looking for ways to invest in yourself and take your self-care to the next level, these are the top ones to include in your daily life.

Do Your Workouts Online

If someone had told me two years ago that my preferred way to work out in 2021 would be to do it from my living room, I’d have laughed in their face. But, it turns out that online workouts aren’t all that bad.

For one, if you’re one of those people who love their yoga class but hates the commute, going online might just be the perfect solution. Secondly, online workouts can be done whenever you have the time. In fact, even if you only have a ten-minute break, you can squeeze in an effective exercise routine that’s going to offer the necessary health benefits.

But, perhaps the best part about moving your exercise routine to the cloud is that you can try absolutely anything your heart desires. Between subscription services like Apple Fitness+, Gaia, and Barre3, you can get a whole range of exciting workouts at a cost lower than the average gym membership.

Use Tech to Track Your Health

Over the past couple of years, wearable technology has moved on from being a gizmo to becoming something that can actually contribute to your life (and well-being). So, if you haven’t already given it a try, now might be perfect timing.

Not only can you get a watch-type wearable on the cheap for monitoring your steps, workouts, and heart rate. Now, you can even choose one of the more advanced pieces of tech to track and improve any aspect of your health. The Oura ring, for example, tracks heart rate variability, respiratory rate, body temperature, and sleep quality.

Watch What You Breathe In

Whether you live in an urban area or somewhere more rural, chances are that the air quality isn’t exactly what it should be. And, the problem isn’t exactly something you should dismiss.

According to data, 9% of global deaths can be attributed to air pollution. That’s almost 1 in 10!

But, while you may not have much (direct) impact on the air quality outside, you can do plenty when you’re spending time inside. With smart air purifiers, you can now monitor and filter the air inside your home, ensuring that you’re always breathing clean air. Or, if you prefer natural wellness hacks, you can choose a few new plants for your most frequented rooms and let them do the hard work.

Start Nurturing Your Microbiome

The benefits of including probiotics in your daily wellness routine have been known for decades now. But, it wasn’t until a few years ago that scientists started researching the role of bacteria in keeping your skin looking healthy and young.

Well, it turns out that most cosmetic products we use these days kill everything in their path – whether they should or not. So, one of the wellness trends you should definitely consider in 2021 is to skip all those antimicrobial products you use and turn towards pro-microbial ones instead.

Of course, this doesn’t mean you can skip wearing sunscreen and getting regular facials. But it might just help you finally attain those #skingoals you’ve been after.

Keep Mental Health at the Tip of Your Fingers

If you haven’t already, it’s high time you include this wellness trend in your daily life: taking good care of your mental health.

It is now easier than ever to find a therapist (whether locally or online with apps such as Talkspace). On top of that, there’s much you can do for your emotional well-being on your own and for free.

For example, there are tons of great meditation and mindfulness apps you can try, like Headspace, Calm, and Endel. Or, if that’s not your thing, you can try daily journaling or tracking your moods and habits. However, if none of those are your type of thing, you can always go with something a bit less involved. Perhaps you can try listening to a mental health podcast every once in a while.

Get Your Buzz Without the Alcohol

Most of us love kicking back with a glass of wine at the end of the day. But, the truth is, alcohol isn’t exactly the best thing to be having if it’s wellness we seek.

Fortunately, there’s a new trend around THC and CBD-infused drinks (depending on what country you’re in). This type of social tonic has much fewer calories than your average alcoholic drink, won’t cause a hangover, and will still give you that pleasant buzz.

We recommend that you choose one of the brands with smaller doses. That way, you’ll have complete control over your non-alcoholic “buzz.”

Another alternative you might like to try is cacao. Read about the wellness benefits of cacao.

In Closing

There you have it – the latest wellness trends you should consider including in your daily life.

Whether you’re all about boosting your health, want to know more about your body so you can take better care of yourself, or just want to look and feel great, any of these will do. But, don’t forget, we’re all unique. If any of these approaches don’t work for you, don’t force it. Give it a chance, but feel free to move on when the time comes.
